February Favourites (Beauty Post)

So it's not quite the end of February yet but since it's the end of halfterm/midterm and then it's back to school this week, then my birthday and then on the 5th I'm off to Germany for 10 days, I thought I'd fit in some posts now! So these are my favourites for the month of February, yes I thought I'd jump on the blogger bandwagon of doing monthly favourites then every couple of months do a giveaway of some things that have previously appeared on my favourites. This months favourites are a selection of products that I have bought over the last few weeks and I love using (hence why they are my favourites aha).

The first of my favourites is the Olay essentials beauty fluid for normal/dry/combo skin (below right) and I am so happy with this! I personally have combination skin with dry skin across the bridge of my nose and some on my cheeks and then the typical teenage oily t-zone. This moisturises my skin so well leaving all my skin soft and smooth without being greasy or drying. I heard about this product from my Great-nan! She swears by it and has lovely skin even though she's in her 90's, so if it's good enough for her, it's good enough for me! But yeh I use this everyday after washing my face and it is a good base for make up too,or like it says on the back you can mix with your foundation to make a really nice tinted moisturiser.

My next favourite is Rimmel 9-in-1 BB cream in the shade Light (above left). I bought this after a friend recommended it to me. I was a bit sceptical when buying this after I was really disappointed by the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation (ew). But I was surprised by this foundation as it offers a fresh-faced natural looking finish with decent coverage which can be built up. I bought this for the days where I don't need a thick face of foundation but need some lighter coverage and I've found it to be perfect for that. As for the 9-in-1 properties as the packaging say: Primes,Moisturises, Minimises Pores, Conceals, Covers, Smoothes, Mattifies, Brightens and helps protect. Now I wouldn't say it does all of these but it definitely is a really moisturising bb cream which gives a natural non-shiny finish and evens out skin tone as well as giving a good amount of coverage. My only criticism is that it only comes in two shades, Light and Medium, which doesn't really cater for many as the light shade is still quite dark making this probably too dark for more fair skinned people, but apart from that I love it.

My next favourite is the Collection 16 hour Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade number 2 Light (pictured below). Now every beauty blogger, youtuber, and their dog have raved and written about this concealer so I thought I'd join the club and buy it too! After trying many concealers in attempts to cover the constant grey under my eyes I have found something that works! Yes I am going to join in and rave about this product too! This concealer gives great long lasting coverage and covers not only my horrendous dark circles and brightens but also covers any blemishes really well too. I have blended it with both my ring finger and with a concealer brush and it looks just as good with both. There is also a good selection of colours and this shade needs barely any blending on my skin. Also with it being around £4-£5 (it was half price at around £2.50 when I bought it)  it's affordable and better quality than a lot of other more expensive concealers too. I loooove it.

My next favourite is another Collection product, this time the Extreme 24 hour felt tip liner (above). I've only got into wearing eye liner in the last couple months as before I was convinced it made me look too gothic with my dark hair and all, but then my friend introduced me to the cat-eye and I was captured by the trend. I've treid a few different liquid eye liners but I've found them hard to use and my eye liner has ended up looking a bit pants really. My friend bought me this and the pen style is so easy to use and is practically fool proof. It's also easy to create thin and thick lines with, so is ideal. If I can use it then so can anyone! Saying that I don't think it's 24 hour exactly, more 7-8 hours without touch ups but longer with touch ups. But this is a favourite of mine as it is easy to control and gives a nice matte. But it is affordable and definitely a good budget buy giving good quality and easy application.

So my next favourite is a hair product which I saw advertised quite a bit and that is the L'Oréal Paris Studio Line #TXT Wave Creating Spray (pictured below). On the back it has instructions for spraying on damp hair and twisting then blow drying to create waves on straight hair. My hair is already wavy/curly and I just have to spritz this through while dry or damp, scrunch it a bit then leave it to dry and I've found it really defines my curls without being sticky or leaving my hair crunchy like lots of other products I've used. This is perfect for my hair to make my curls less frizzy and more defined which is a massive thing for me after trying endless hair products to achieve that. It also works well on straight hair (my friend was my guinea pig) and it creates more of a tousled beachy wave look but either way I love it! It kind of smells like johnson's baby wipes though. It's normally £3.89 at boots or superdrug but I got mine at the local pharmacy for £2.99.

So the last products in my favourites this month are probably my favourite things, I'm literally obsessed with them and they are two eos lipbalms in flavours: Raspberry and Pomegranate (below left) and Strawberry Sorbet (below right). I've wanted to try one of these for ages but they seem to be a pain in the arse to get in the UK (let me know if you know anywhere that does them please!). So when my bestfriend Dulcie went on the half term school trip to New York I asked her to buy me two and she did! I literally love these so much, they smell amazing, are super moisturising and the packaging is so cute! I really like the shape of them which at first I thought I'd find annoying but I actually love, they look really pretty on my desk and are just really handy and nicer than a lot of other lip balms I've tried and trust me I'm the lipbalm queen! I literally have loads of lipbalms and these are up there with the best of them. I'm definitely going to buy some more of these now I know that they're amazing even if I have to pay ridiculous shipping fees haha!
So that concludes my February favourites! I hope you liked them and let me know if you've tried any of the products and what you think of them or any suggestions of products I should try (sorry if I rambled a bit!). Also I apologise for the dodgy quality photos but my Iphone camera is a bit cracked! I hope you all have a good week and I plan to post a few more times before I leave for Germany so watch this space :-) Anyway thanks if you took the time to read!

Music Picks: First top 10 of 2014

Hey guys! So here are my first music picks of 2014 although some of the songs are much much older! I hope you enjoy them and give them a listen, they're some of my personal favourites. Also I would like to say thankyou to regular readers/viewers as I have got more views than I thought I would which means alot that people actually want to read the stuff I ramble on about! So please keep telling me what you think, share my page around if you enjoy it etc. I am thinking about maybe doing a giveaway/competition thing when I reach my goal for followers? If you would like something like that.? Anyway back to my music picks.

Beyonce- Drunk in Love (Link Here) One of my favourite songs at the moment (obviously), I love Beyonce's new album and was just as surprised as everyone else when she dropped it. I love the indian raga style part at the start of the song and love how she fuses different styles of music. Beyonce looks gorgeous as always in the video and I really like this song especially the fact Jay-z is in it too. It's my new jam and such a good song for dancing, even though I can't dance oops.

Childish Gambino- 3005 (Link Here) I instantly loved this song from the first time I heard it, I'd never really heard of Chldish Gambino before this but now I am in love with his music. If you like Frank Ocean he is definitely for you. It seems everyone in my year at school loves this and it's a fave with all the cliques which is very rare so shows what a good and catchy song it is. Plus the video shows him on a ferris wheel with a Teddy Bear, what else could you want?

Luke Friend- Commitments (Link Here) Everybody knows I love Luke Friend, everything about him is just lush. I love his original songs and I have had one of his other originals in my picks before. I love this song as it is very honest and it just means a lot to me, plus I'm hoping to see Luke in concert sometime this year so it's pretty exciting. Definitely check this out

Kodaline- High Hopes (Link Here) This is my sad song if I'm honest for listening to snuggled up in a blanket when I feel rubbish , it's kind of positive in a weird way. I love kodaline though they are literally my saviours, this is probably the most well known song of theirs. It was also pretty much the first song I bought on itunes when I got my new Iphone at Christmas. I just love it.

The Maccabees- Toothpaste Kisses (Link Here) Is one of my all time favourite songs, it's just so cute and happy! It's quite an old song now but I love it and listen to it pretty much everyday. And to make it even better it is in the Angus,Thongs and Perfect Snogging soundtrack too, which is one of my favourite films and probably up there as one of the ultimate chick flicks! But yeah so this song plays with Robbie and Georgia holding hands awh!

Lorde- World Alone (Link Here) I'm a pretty big Lorde fan and this song is one off my Iphone too. I like the lyrics and just the whole song in general, plus it's more of unknown song of Lorde's and is really underrated. I really like that again like Luke Friend her lyrics are honest and she's not afraid to right about the bad in society too. We're dancing in this world alone :-)

One Direction- Happily <acoustic>  (Link Here) One of my favourite songs from Midnight Memories album, I chose the acoustic version because I stumbled across it while looking for the normal version a couple weeks ago and am now in love with it! I like the banjoes in it (yes I'm weird) which is probably the influence of going to bluegrass festivals last year :P But seriously this version is amazing and shows that the boys have crazy talent, Zayn's high notes though.

Beyonce ft Drake- Mine (Link Here) Yes all bow down to Queen Bey as she makes another appearance in my picks. I am in love with this song as both her and Drake are my faves. This song mixes different styles too and I love the ' you wanna roll wit a good girl bit'. I am addicted to this song and even though I'm horrendous for switching songs before they end, I can honestly say I listen to this one all the way through and it's like 6 minutes long! "This is the song for the good girl"

Jason Derulo- Trumpets (Link Here) I like this song not for the lyrics or meaning but just because it's a good dance track and upbeat and makes me in a good mood. Got to say I'm not a huge fan of the video though, I find it's a bit objectifying of women but that's just my opinion :-) Also a little bit weird that he hears trumpets? But yeah it's still a good jamming tune.

Snow Patrol- You Could Be Happy (Link Here) So this is another song I listen to when I'm a bit sad and again it's an oldy but a classic. I love snow patrol as a band with a really chilled out sound and I like that this song kind of sounds like a nursery rhyme at the start. It's also off my favourite album by them ' Eyes Open' and I love the vocals and lyrics in this,it's just soothing and real.

So those were my picks, thanks for reading and check them out and tell me what you think, or tell me what your favourite songs are? As I said at the start if you comment, share this around or even just view it then I would greatly appreciate it and thankyou to everyone who has supported me so far, this is just the beginning. As I said I think I am going to do a competition/give away of my favourite things when I reach my goal followers too! Also don't be afraid to contact me I'm always here as your honourary sister!

A Belated Happy New Year

So firstly I would like to say happy new year to everyone and I hope you had a lovely Christmas! And secondly I want to apologise for not posting in ages, but I do have my reasons. So as some of you may know I moved house on the 20th of December, being 5 days before Christmas it was extremely stressful and busy so I didn't have to time to write then. Then when I got to the new house I found out that we wouldn't have Internet connected until the 27th! The day I was going to Cornwall. So now I am back and have drafted a few posts to make up for not being here which will be posted probably today.
Now that's over with let's get back to Christmas! I hope you all had a great day whether you celebrate it or not. What did you get up to? Any favourite presents? I'd love to hear from you. I had a nice day myself, spent the morning with my mum and her boyfriend Dan then went to visit my grandma, grandad, uncle and great grandma in a village nearby. It was really nice to see them all and have a good catch up while exchanging gifts. I then went to my sister and her boyfriend's house for Christmas dinner along with my mum and then came home in time to see the Christmas tv specials and chill out for the night!

Cheeky Christmas Day Selfie, oops
At teatime on the 27th I got picked up by my stepmum Julie to take me to her and my dad's cottage in Cornwall. It was a long drive and we arrived at about 10.30pm in the village. It was really cute and we had a drink before heading home to the cottage. While there I opened my Christmas presents from them and chilled out for a bit before heading to bed. Some of the gifts I received will feature in upcoming posts, for example I got 4 good books; The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks, The Great Gatsby and The Book Thief so will be doing some book reviews in the near future.
This is the beach in the village where my Parents' live.

I was only in Cornwall for 3 days in the end as my trip ended up being shorter than expected but while I was there I still saw a lot of amazing views and took some lovely photos to share with you guys. On my last day Julie and I went for a walk which was about 10 miles in total. We walked from the village where they live to a local town about 4 miles away via a woodland style trail and jumped in muddy puddles pretty much all the way (I'm very rebellious don't you know!) which was a good laugh. We stopped in the town, had a drink then made our way back to the village by a very hilly coastal path. It was so slippy and with steep steps anyway it was pretty challenging and I ended up bum-shuffling down the downhill parts. I was hilarious with us both slipping all over the place but the last up hill part was the real killer, all worth it for the views and of course we had to take some selfies once we reached the top just to prove we got there!;)
This is the view from the Coastal Path.
Julie looking lovely, me however a little windswept.

Finally I'm really sorry for the lateness of this post, I've had it drafted since the 2nd! I finally had my internet set up this evening so expect a load of posts coming up to make up for it. Also since moving house I've started lots of DIY projects so I could do some how to DIY posts? As I said I will be writing some book reviews in the near future and my Music picks will be returning and some Beauty inspired posts to so watch out! Thankyou for everything and continue to comment etc, I have also added my e-mail to the bottom too so you can contact me directly if you so wish to!

Winter's Coming: Christmas Present Shopping

Hello! So today's post as promised is a Christmas shopping/ present guide thingy, although it won't be much help for ideas or as a guide to many people unless you've left your Christmas shopping even later than mine! So really it's just a chance for you to have a nosey at what I've bought for people! I've bought these in my local shopping town and in Cardiff when I went there but it's all pretty much available in most stores of the same chain. Any presents I have bought online aren't featured in this sorry!

So the first thing I bought was a 'Champney's Sports Therapy Gym Ready Kit For Men' set (£14) as one of my item's in the boots 3 for 2 offer. So I wanted to get something kind of toiletries related for this person and it has to be something from a recognisable brand with him! I've used some of the women's Champney's toiletries myself and have always found them to be really good and nicely scented. This set includes a hair&body wash, an antiperspirant, a gym towel (not much bigger than a flannel if I'm honest) and a folding water bottle,I thought this would be perfect for this person considering he's been saying for ages that he is going to go to the gym! The packaging too is really nice and simplistic, but if you get this be careful the lid comes off really easily!

The next thing I got was 'Soap and Glory Bright and Bubbly' (£10) set, yes good old soap and glory, pretty much a favourite with everybody and anybody. This particular set includes the classic items: Clean on Me shower gel, The Righteous Butter body butter, The Scrub Of Your Life body buffer, Hand food hand cream and a Shower Puff. I love the hand cream personally and have tried many of the soap and glory products (I recommend mist me madly) so definitely had no doubts in picking up this set. this was also part of the 3 for 2 in boots as well. The packaging is classic soap and glory pink but the box itself is red. The box is really cute and has like candy cane style stripes and is something you could use again afterwards.

The next item I got as my 'free' gift in the boots 3 for 2 was a Ted Baker Box (should of been £10). I honestly bought this completely from looking at the packaging with no idea at all what was inside, I know that sounds really stupid but no matter how many aisles of 3 for 2 I went down I kept coming back to this box. The packaging completely caught my eye and I thought it was so cute and pretty and I guess the fact I bought it not knowing what was inside just because I liked the box really shows the power good packaging can have on a potential buyer haha or just idiots like me who like pretty colours! I have looked since I've got home and this box contains: Body Wash, Body Souffle,Bath Foam and Body spray, all in mini form with cute bottles! And it comes with pretty tissue paper too!

The next thing I bought was the most expensive single item and it was the Benefit Make-up 'Let's Make Lovely' set which includes mini versions of classic Benefit best-selling products: They're Real mascara, Porefessional -pore primer thingy, It's Potent eye cream and hoola bronzing powder. I got this as it includes a good range of products that I have personally tried so I know that they are good quality and are versatile. I chose this set in particular (with the help of the benefit counter lady) as I thought that these were the products that my gift-receiver would like best and would actually get used. I was still on a budget and thought getting this set of minis would be nicer than just one product from Benefit. I paid £19.50 for this set a couple weeks ago but it is now reduced down to £15.60 -.-

The next thing I bought was in Superdrug, I bought
this make-up collection kit as it it's one of those sets that has what you need to create a certain look. This one is 'Studio London Pretty Natural' and has some really pretty colours in it,you can't seem them that well in the pictures but they are really lovely and still quite subtle. It has a blush and highlighter kit which has a really pretty girl pink colour in it and a set of 3 eye shadows all in different but still neutral colours. The friend I bought this for is a bit of a make-up lover so hopefully this will go down pretty well. I have also used Studio sets before so know that they
are of decent quality rather than some of the bog-
standard cheap crappy sets I have previous encountered.
Also this was reduced down from £13 pounds down
to £5 so is a bit of a steal too!

Okay so these are the last few things I purchased and all of them are from H&M, first a beauty blender style make-up sponge- my friend has been going on about wanting this for ages! So I bought it for her to shut her up ;-) it was only £1.99 so inexpensive compared to others, I have no idea on the quality though! The next thing I bought was a cute make-up pouch in a polka dot print pattern, this is such a good size and would be perfect to pop in your handbag or schoolbag with your make-up essentials in! It's plastic too so means you can wipe it clean if something spills in it and has a normal zip on it for safe keeping, again this was £1.99 so a really affordable gift that you could fill with goodies! Last thing I bought was this really cute silver glitter Iphone 4 case, I absolutely love this and would have got
one for myself too if I had an Iphone! But yeah it's really
pretty and glam and was only £3.99, much cheaper than
many Iphone cases you get at some stores!

So that is my present guide, sorry it's a bit late but I have been extremely busy packing and sorting as I finally move house on Friday! I know, only 5 days before Christmas eek! Anyway as normal any comments, suggestions or feedback are welcome. Hope you are all feeling festive and jolly!
Love
Georgie xx

Music Picks: My top ten this week

Hey my lovelies, so here is my top ten song picks this week, I've kind of given up on the tunes on Tuesday thing as I have realised Tuesday is one of my busiest days and it just isn't realistic aiming to post every Tuesday especially with all my homework on top of clubs etc, sorry! So I'll just post my top ten favourite tracks of the moment now and again! My music taste is really varied and this week's picks are a variety of new and old songs, hope you enjoy them :D

Birdy- Wings (Link Here) I'm a long time lover of Birdy and got listening to this song from a friend covering it on piano at a lunch time a few weeks ago :-) I really like this song it's just chilled out and a bit less serious than some of her older stuff, I have no idea what the video is about though. Bit of a different sound to her first album but still really good.

Pia Mia- Red Love (Link Here) Pia Mia probably best known as bestfriend to Kylie Jenner or for covering 'Hold on we're going home' over dinner with Kanye West and Drake. Not really credited for her own music enough, love this song and also 'Shotgun Love'. She has such a lovely voice and this song is so good, hard to believe she's only 17, it seems a lot more grown up than that.

Luke Friend- Basically Older (Link Here) So if you are from the UK you'll probably know who Luke Friend is as he is currently on the UK Xfactor and is in the final tomorrow (fingers crossed for him!). I completely love him, his unique voice, his guitar playing, even his hair (considering I was practically his twin Wednesday morning). This song is one of his original's and it is my overall favourite song at the moment, the lyrics are so honest and I love the fact that it is live, it's so raw and organic sounding.

Cat Power- Sea of Love (Link Here) One of my faveee songs from the soundtrack of my faveee film ever Juno, it's played in a sad part of the movie and therefore one of my sad songs to listen to but I still love it. Really nice and chilled out and she has such an unusual voice, definitely listen to this and watch Juno , it's literally so so good!

Gabriella Cilmi- Warm this Winter (Link Here) I had to throw a christmassy song in there somewhere and even though it's one of the more recent christmas tunes I still prefer it over a lot of the older ones. I love Gabriella Cilmi anyway and her voice is lush, bit annoyed they used this for the co-op advert though -.-

The 1975- Sex (Link Here) I've only recently discovered The 1975 but already I love their music and I love this song as it's pretty catchy and I like the guitar in it. The lyrics are kind of inappropriate but it's one of those songs where you don't really listen to the the lyrics more just the music. The only lyric I remember from it is the she's got a boyfriend anyway bit and that's probably only because it's repeated a lot!

Chris Brown ft Kevin McCall- Strip (Link Here) I know what you are thinking, a song called sex and strip in one set of picks, I know it's all a bit cheeky but I can assure you it's not intended on purpose! I love this song to jam to and I am quite a fan of Chris Brown's music. I actually know a dance routine to this song (if you know me well you know how hilarious that is) so I love dancing about to it, no not in that way.

Passenger- The Last Unicorn (Link Here) Another Passenger song to feature in my picks, I love passenger so much, he is one of my favourite artists going. this song is a much older one of his but it's so good and tells a story. I first found this song purely because of the title even though it's pretty unrelated. Really nice acoustic song, but with kind of a sad theme to it.

Lana Del Rey - This Is What Makes Us Girls (Link Here) This song has been one of the most played on my Ipod for over a year, one of my favourite songs off Born to Die, highly recommend the whole album. I personally love Lana as a fashion icon as well as a singer and love how she incorporates ideas from different generations and genres in both her music and style.

Katy Perry- Thinking of You (Link here) Such an old song now, off her first album, One of the Boys. I found this on one of my old playlists on my Ipod and fell in love with it all over again. I love the whole idea of it and the honesty in the lyrics. I do still like Katy Perry but feel that some of her songs are over produced and edited now and don't show off her lovely voice like this one and some of the older ones do.

That was my music picks, I hope you enjoyed them, thanks for reading! Please comment any suggestions or feedback and follow if you want :-) Tomorrow or Sunday I am hoping to get my Christmas Gift guide/selection thing online as I am going Christmas shopping again tomorrow and will have pictures and ideas up then! I have lots of posts planned for the following week and will try to fit them around moving house, which I do next Friday, 5 days before Christmas eek!

Winters coming! General Update :D

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd do a random post - like a little update of everything that is going on around me at the moment,it's all a bit crazy and I've been pretty bogged down with school work. I'm pretty sad to say that after all my best efforts and constant revising I think I failed my maths test as the two topics I missed last week and couldn't catch up on in time came up on the 6 mark questions oops. But I think I'm pretty clued up ready for my German listening and reading assessment tomorrow so hopefully will redeem myself- I also got back my french result which by some miracle I managed to get an A in after waffling on endlessly.

On Friday I had academic review which is basically a day off school where you go in for 10 minutes to talk to your tutor to set your targets for the year. But for some reason my appointment was with the deputy headteacher (scary!!) but she was lovely and now my mum thinks I'm some kind of angelic model pupil! So all in all pretty good!I had a pretty mad weekend busy packing, and with no football match to play Saturday :-( it meant mum could allocate my day entirely to boxing things up waheyyy. Honestly moving is sooooo stressful! I'm excited for going to a new place and designing my new room (any ideas are welcome!) but also pretty sad to be leaving the house I've lived in since I was lickle :-(
(my dining room now, sad Georgie)

On a happier note, yesterday my mama bought the best thing ever like literally the best thing since sliced bread! Like literally I couldn't believe they even did these,I have never seen them anywhere before and mum just came home from shopping with them! wait for it,wait for it, it was.....
Yes, read it and weep, STRAWBERRY PUFFS! omg I was literally so excited arghhh! I've never liked honey/sugar puffs but I looooove anything strawberry so I was such a happy girly! So I had them for brekkie this morning and they weren't quite as nice as I was expecting (but I was expecting clouds and rainbows) so I kinda let myself in for the fall. Then when I told my friend Beth about them today she told me that they've done them in Tesco's for ages but hey ho I was happy enough!

I did tell you that this post was going to be random but I thought I'd just add a post and photo of the jumper I was trying to explain in my previous post about my weekend away to Cardiff. Basically I know what it is called alot better now so thought I'd tell you haha! It's a mocha colour eyelash jumper and after wearing it at the weekend I've found that it is soooo soft and comfy and all cosy! It isn't at all scratchy or uncomfortable which I was worried about and its just a loose kind of oversize fit, perfect for winter nights! At £15 in Select it was cheaper than some of the other eyelash jumpers I have seen and I've been really impressed with the quality. In the shop they also had some crop versions of the jumper that were just as soft and they also had the same as mine in burgundy red wine colour and a really nice baby pink colour (which I wish I had got as well!)

So sorry for the crappy quality selfie of my jumper but it was the best I could do with the iPad as my camera, tripod and lead is all packed up already. It looks a slightly different kind of colour in this picture but I promise you it is really nice and as you can kind of see in this picture, goes well and is super cosy with leggings! So that was a general update, sorry it was such a mish-mash of random things but I felt I needed to talk about some things. I will try to keeping posting just as regularly but I can't promise anything as everything is so crazyyyyy at the moment but I will definitely be posting at least once every ten days and am considering starting to do some youtube videos after Christmas, vlogs, hauls, reviews that type of thing, let me know what you think? also thank you to my new followers and to everyone for all the views recently!
