Music Picks: Tunes on Tuesdays on.. Friday?

Told you I'd do a weekly segment (even if it hasn't ended up on a Tuesday this week oops!) , yes so I apologize for it being late, I had started typing it up on Tuesday but had the final performance of Shakespeare's Macbeth play so was out all evening. Anyway this week's song choices are a complete mix of some current and lots of older songs, they are purely my personal choices and I've tried not to include any repeats of artists although I'm sure I will end up with some in the following weeks. Here goes!

Gabrielle Aplin-Home (Link Here) This song is so beautiful! I love the message behind it and it's helped me when I've been a bit lost, this song means so much to me and I love Gabrielle's voice and the fact that she is from near me makes her even better, I've followed her since she was a youtuber and am so glad she's making it as a professional artist, definitely give her a listen!

Frank Ocean- Swim Good (Link Here) I originally heard this song from a cover and then listened to the original and was so surprised, I think Frank Ocean's voice is so lovely and unique and that his music is so diverse he has a song to suit everyone. This is my personal favourite song of his, also I would recommend the Channel Orange album too,it's great!

Shannon Saunders- Heart of Blue (Link Here) A amazing singer that you probably haven't heard of,again another singer pretty local to me. This song is really lovely and innocent and deserves a lot more recognition and views than it has. Also props to her for walking barefoot round London in the video-brave girl!

Mcfly- Love is on the Radio (Link Here) I've got to admit I've been a long time fan of Mcfly since they started haha (a while ago now!)! But as they are starting to be more popular again I'm liking their more mature sound and starting to listen to their songs again, this one is really catchy and happy and flying up the charts!

Ben Howard- Old Pine (Link Here) Ben Howard's voice is just beautiful- I pretty much love any of his songs but this one I like more than most, I think it's just simple and honest. I like the guitar in this and the natural feel of the song, the lyrics are pretty perfect and this song is just so cute arghh just listen to it.

Jake Bugg-Seen it All (Link Here) I love that Jake Bugg is a singer song writer and that he has an old kind of sound to his music and that it is all so original. I like that he has a lot of older influences and has a different kind of indie/folk type sound. I think this song is very truthful and says a lot about society and kind of put's into perspective the time we live in.

Scouting for Girls- Love How it Hurts (Link Here) Bearing in mind I'm still listening to their first album they ever released in 2008 shows how stuck behind the times I am haha! But anyway I am totally in love with that album but I also really like this song and the meaning is quite relatable- the video is also good too so give it a look!

Wheatus- Teenage Dirtbag (Link Here) I don't think this song needs much of an explanation. It's a classic and if you haven't heard it before then you've probably been living under a rock for ages (sorry that was a bit harsh!). But yeah years on and I still love this song and I don't think I'll ever not like it, it had to make my music picks at some point!

John Legend- Ordinary People (Link Here) One of my Mum's favourite songs and after hearing it a few times it quickly became one of mine too. I can honestly say I don't think I've heard many other John Legend songs but this one is definitely a firm favourite of mine- even if it is a bit of an oldie one now. Listen to it,you might be surprised.

Eliza Doolittle-Rollerblades (Link Here) I literally idolize Eliza Doolittle, her music her style, her hair, everything! Probably my favourite song of her's still, I like how her song's have a really relaxed and chilled vibe, they pretty much make up most of my summer soundtrack! But this song especially means a lot to me, I love the idea of not getting down about things and just carrying on!

So that was this week's Tunes on Tuesdays (on Friday?) I hope you liked them, most of them were a more chilled out sound this week and I know that my taste won't appeal to everyone but I would love any feedback or suggestions-just comment! Or if there any songs you want me to listen to comment too and you could see them in a music pick to come! I'm going away to Cardiff with le famille and my friend Dulcie tomorrow so I might do a weekend away post or something on Sunday or Monday so keep an eye out, thanks for reading!

FILM REVIEW- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

So I haven't posted in a while as going back to school I've had English, Science and ICT coursework to catch up on along with a tonne of other schoolwork, drama performances (post to follow) etc. So this post I was going to do a review type thing of Catching Fire arghhh. So I've literally been so excited for this coming out since it was announced like agesssss ago. I've got to admit I'm a massive fan of all three books so was kind of worried that the films wouldn't live up to my expectations but I've got to say the first two have been amazing, especially Catching Fire. Catching fire just seemed to be on a much bigger scale, everything so much brighter, better and more detailed than before. It seemed that this time seeing more of the Capitol it portrayed the scene's from the book so well. Even Effie looked more flamboyant than the first film if that is even possible! I think that in this film they showed the changing relationship between Katniss and Peeta perfectly, as well as showing Katniss' feeling towards Gale. This film had everything, cute moments, deaths (of course),scary moments that had me jumping out my seat and even moments that had me and my friend Beth shedding a few tears. I would definitely recommend it to anybody!

Poster source: Wikipedia

Okay so now I've kind of said my thoughts on the main kind of story I guess without giving too much away for those of you who haven't already read the books! But I thought I would dedicate a paragraph to the actors and performances in the movie (mainly the boys if you see where I am going). So in this film we get to see a lot more of Liam Hemsworth as Gale, and we get to see a stronger side to him in his feelings and beliefs (as well as a few topless scenes, don't get too excited though- he's all bloody in them!). We also get to see Peeta more, outside of the games and get to see how much he's fallen for Katniss (aww!) and what a complete cutie he is, he definitely had us swooning a few times! Also a shout out to Josh Hutcherson who seems to have turned from a boy to a man-excuse the cringy-ness, but seriously his arms in this movie are just phwoar all muscly and that! In this film we get to see fine englishman Sam Claffin as Finnick Odair and he is without doubt extremely easy on the eye too. He also shows a soft side playing Finnick and comes across as a massive flirt at the same time! But enough about the boys of the film, Jennifer Lawrence completely stole the show (as usual) playing both the soft, caring and instinctive-slightly mad sides of Katniss all whilst still looking stunning throughout! I mean seriously how can someone still look that pretty when they are injured or half-dying?! Anyway that is my quick review-type thing of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hope you liked or enjoyed some of it at least! I'd really appreciate if you could share with friends, comment or do that weird +1 thing if you like it as I'd love to get out there to a wider audience or have some feedback or ideas if you have them!

10 music picks : tune's on tuesday's

So I was thinking of an idea of some type of weekly segment to add to my blog, and looking around the internet found that lots of bloggers were doing favourite songs or artists posts, I thought this would be a perfect idea as I get to talk about my favourite songs and my music tastes and you as readers get to know a bit more about me! I'm going to try it for a few weeks and see how it goes, I was also thinking about doing movie monday picks? Hmm I'll work on them, I apologise now for the cringy name but it had to be a bit catchy haha :-)

So my music picks for this week are:
Lorde- Tennis Courts (Link here) I absolutely love this song and some of the lyrics some up things perfectly, most people have heard 'Royals' but I'd really recommend checking out the whole 'Pure Heroine' album, this is just one of my favourites off it.

Drake-Own It (Link here) One of my favourite tracks off the album (Nothing was the same) love this track loads, bit of a different sound to the 'Take Care' album though! There isn't a official video yet so I have linked a random  lyric video!

Passenger-Patient Love (Link here) Passenger is one of my favourite artists and I am completely in love with the whole 'All the little lights' album, this song is beautiful, it doesn't have an official video so have linked a random one, definitely give it a listen!

Arctic Monkeys- Do I Wanna Know? (Link here) I have always loved arctic monkeys since I was a lot younger and this is probably one of the only newer songs that I listen to as I'm still listening to the old albums, but I love the riff in this, check it out!

Daughter- Your Kisses (Link here) More of an unknown artist, but beautiful regardless, this song is probably my favourite of all the songs by Daughter as it is so raw and natural. Stumbled upon this song while looking at other songs by them, I really recommend it.

Chris Brown(ft Nicki Minaj)- Love more (Link here) One of my favourite upbeat tracks at the moment, great song to dance about with friends too,  always loved Chris Brown's voice, not 100% sure on the Nicki rap but still love it! The video is pretty funny too :-)

Macklemore& Ryan Lewis - Otherside(remix) (Link here) A boy in my music class introduced me to this song last year, way before 'Thrift Shop' came out and this was the song that got me listening to Macklemore. I think the message of it is so important and I love the 'oh girl this boat is sinking...' bit, just check it out.

Ed Sheeran- Gold Rush (Link here) Everyone loves Ed! But this song is probably less well known of his (again I've linked a random video), I like this as it's pretty upbeat compared to some of his songs and is pretty cheery to listen to on a morning. Some of the lyrics are really relatable too and it just makes me smile :-)

Nina Nesbitt- Make me fall (Link here) Another artist who is less well known as she isn't really in the mainstream charts or anything. I love this song as her voice is just beautiful and again some of the lyrics are just amazing, I really recommend listening to the whole 'The Apple Tree EP' and some of her other songs as they are really unique and beautiful.

One Direction- Story of my Life (Link here) One Direction has become somewhat a guilty pleasure of mine music wise, I'd never really had any interest in their music until more recently when my friend (who is a huge fan) got me listening to some of their tracks and i was really surprised as I actually like alot of their music. I like this song and it is catchy, the video is a must watch though,it's just too cute!

So that was my extremely long music picks for 'tune's on tuesday's' and reading it back I've realised I just say love and favourite alot, oops! But as you can see my music taste is really varied and random haha! Hope you enjoy this segment and the song's i've picked as it took me foreverrrrr to type :-)

winter's coming! 1

Okay so with only 35 days until Christmas and with temperatures here in England finally dropping below 0 degrees Celsius we know winter is on its way woohoo! Time to get out your woolly jumpers, beanies and mittens,yay:-) So I absolutely love winter and the run up to Christmas, the lights, shopping, the hot chocolates by the fire, but one thing seems to happen to me every year. I ALWAYS get ill! So for the last two weeks I've had a chesty cough, right in time for my English GCSE exam. But finally  last Wednesday I felt loads better, only to wake up Thursday with a sore throat and on Friday found I had tonsillitis for about the gazillionth time arghhhh! I guess there are some perks to being ill and I've finally figured out some presents I'll be purchasing for the festive season :D :D :D

So these are my favourite things to have on a sick day (like I'm having today). Some really good fruit juice to drink, mine is innocent apple and raspberry (make sure you have plenty of water too), something really quick and easy to eat, I have the roast chicken pasta mugshot which only takes 5mins to make with boiling water, which tastes just like chicken soup (always a winner when you are ill!). I also have a mini jelly pot which is nice as soft for my throat, mine is hartley's no added sugar strawberry and my final must have is a good magazine, I bought Company (my favourite magazine) yesterday and read that so today opted for grazia and hopefully should be better and back at school soon!
That's all for now-comment any ideas for posts or reviews that you would like.

First review; maybelline baby lips

So I thought I would do some type of beauty/make-up product review as a post so here goes. I bought the Maybelline Babylips in flavour (is it even a flavour?) Hydrate about 3 months ago (seen in picture above, I apologise for the instagram effect haha!) so thought it was long overdue I said something about it. I bought this as I was in dire need of a new lipbalm and all the american beauty bloggers I follow were all raving about it, so I thought I'd give it a try! I was pleasantly surprised by this product, it applies smoothly and left my lips well- Hydrated! But seriously I was really impressed by this product and have since purchased a few of the tinted ones (peach kiss and cherry me) and have really liked them both too,but this one is still my favourite. Only criticism is that it doesn't exactly taste the nicest but that's pretty irrelevant anyway, so yeah I love these! Well this turned out longer than I expected it would be but nevermind, thanks for reading this- much love
